Stevenson School serves more than 400 students in preschool through sixth grade, including English language learners and students with special needs.

With the availability of computers in every classroom, the teachers can bring the world to the students. Through the use of the Internet and the District 54 Intranet, students are engaged in authentic and multidisciplinary tasks; learn through inquiry and exploration; and participate in interactive and cooperative learning with their classmates.

Stevenson is one of six District 54 schools to receive the U.S. Blue Ribbon Schools award for excellence in education. Stevenson also received the 2008 and 2009 Excellence Award for Exemplary Academic Performance from the Illinois State Board of Education.

Stevenson has been the center for educational and community partnerships since its opening. An active PTA supports the educational process of the children.

Stevenson School was built in 1975 on an eight-acre site donated for public use by the Centex Corporation. The school was named after Adlai E. Stevenson II, a former U.S. diplomat and Illinois governor.
